Alexandra Pesa
Counsellor
Meet Alexandra!
Hi there! I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in beautiful Coquitlam, BC, and I’m passionate about helping people rediscover who they really are and live in a way that feels true to them. My journey into counselling started with a love for understanding human behavior and a desire to support people in navigating life's ups and downs. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals, from those struggling with anxiety and perfectionism to people dealing with disordered eating and ADHD. I love helping clients feel more at home in their own skin, and I’m here to guide you through whatever challenges you’re facing.
What to expect during your session
I hold the belief that our past experiences often shape our present realities. Throughout our sessions, we'll delve into your past, explore its influence on your current situation, and work on processing and moving forward from it. Together, we'll discover practical tools to enhance your connection with yourself, others, and the world around you.
The approaches I draw from are Emotion-Focused therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy (DBT), and Gottman Method Couple's Therapy. My goal is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their inner worlds, discover the connections between the mind, body, and soul, and find their unique path toward growth and fulfillment.
Certifications
- Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC)
- Trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy
- ICBC-approved counsellor
Specialties and areas of interest
I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, disordered eating, and neurodivergence, particularly ADHD. I also have a deep interest in supporting clients struggling with relationship dynamics, self-criticism, and people-pleasing behaviors. Additionally, I focus on trauma recovery, especially for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents. My work extends to couples therapy and clients navigating life transitions, where I aim to help them build stronger emotional connections and communication skills.
Outside of the clinic
In my free time, you'll often catch me in my Taylor Swift jam sessions in my cozy apartment, sharing the vibes with my cat, Margot. When I'm not being an annoying neighbor, I'm out and about, connecting with friends, hitting the gym, or embarking on adventures to discover new eats around town.
